Animals United
Animals United is a 3D German cartoon which is directed by Relmhard Klooss and Holger Tappe. It is a story about animals that get together to find water. Along their journey, lots of funny things happen, and of course, they have a lot of adventures.
The animals in the grasslands in Africa are waiting for the coming flood. However, this year’s flood seems to come later than in other years. The animals become upset and worried. At the same time, some animals from other places come to the grasslands to look for peace. However, the situation seems worse because the water is becoming less and less. So they decide to look for the river.
Finally, they find the reason why they don’t have any water to drink. A dam has been set up so that humans can have a better life. After a long fight with humans, they let the world know that animals are in danger.

I have heard men say that seeing is believing. But I would say that feeling is believing, for though I had seen much before, I never knew the very pain of life till now.
My new owner was Nicholas Skinner. He was hard on his drivers, and they were hard on the horses. We worked for long hours and had no Sunday rest. My driver was just as hard as his master, and he had a cruel whip (残忍的鞭子) with something sharp at the end which often cut me and made me bleed. It was a terrible life, and sometimes, I wished I was dead.
One day I nearly got my wish. We were at the railway station when a family of four people hired us. Box after box was put on the top of the cab (马车). Then the driver hit me with his whip and we moved out of the station. I had not eaten or rested since early that morning. I did my best and got along quite well until we came to Ludgate Hill. By then I was exhausted, and the heavy cab was too much for me. My feet went from under me and I fell heavily, knocking all the breath out of me. I lay quite still because I could not move. There were angry voices above me and luggage (行李) was taken off the cab, but it was all like a dream. Cold water was thrown over my head, some medicine was put into my mouth, and I was covered with a cloth.

Dogs might be able to help fight against cancer (癌症)! Researchers at California’s Pine Street Foundation (PSF) say they have trained five dogs to smell cancer on a person’s breath. This could be exciting news. If the cancer is found early enough, there is still time to stop it from getting worse.
Dogs have 20 to 40 times as many smell receptors (嗅觉接收器) as humans do. There are special cells (细胞) in the nose. Also, a dog’s sense of smell may be 10,000 to 100,000 times stronger than ours. But can dogs really smell illnesses
PSF researcher McCulloch and his team asked four healthy people and one with cancer to blow into bottles. The bottles were then placed in different rooms. Finally, the dogs were asked to smell the bottles.
McCulloch says that dogs really can smell illnesses. “We were very surprised by how good they were,” he told CNN. “They were recognising who had cancer, and they were also saying who didn’t.” Each dog had been trained for three weeks to sit when it smelled cancer. 99% of the time, the dogs sat next to the bottles with cancer.
No lab test for cancer has given more correct results than this experiment. The results are so amazing that many experts (专家) question the dogs’ smelling power. They want to know if there were other reasons why the dogs did so well. For example, how the dogs acted could have depended on the way of training.
However, most experts agree that this study is important. The information could help scientists develop a new and simple way to deal with cancer in the future. Once again, humans may be getting a helping foot—or nose—from their best animal friends.
