Five-year-old Willard Wigan found it hard to tell the difference between an “M” and a “W”. His school teacher know nothing about dyslexia (阅读障碍症), so she didn’t try to help him. Not surprisingly, Willard didn’t like school. Usually, his mind drifted—to playing outside, to his dog, or to the ants in the garden. Willard was especially interested in those ants. When he noticed some ants trying to build a house, he would help them.
At school, when Willard worked hard but was still poor at his reading or math, Willard would go home and create very, very small things for the ant houses. He even built an ant school. This kind of skill increased and a love for little things began to grow in his heart.
At the age of nine, Willard began carving (雕刻) faces on toothpicks (牙签). When he showed his mother the carved faces, she said, “What an excellent job you’ve done! You must make great efforts to be the best in the world.” With her encouragement, Willard’s confidence grew and he continued. Six years later, he dropped out of school to help support his family and he still spent his spare time carving. Now, years later, Willard carves the smallest artwork in the world! More and more people admire his talent. He realized his dream and became a wealthy man at last.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a film actor I was lucky enough to have such an experience.
One of my family’s close friends is a director and wanted to make a project for the Virginia Film Festival. Having lots of experience in the theater, I was sure that my acting skills were good enough for the lead role. But it turned out it was very different from theater acting.
Most people, myself included, think that actors are the centre of attention. However, most of the time everyone is busy setting up cameras. Nobody is paying unnecessary attention to the actors. Each part of the film will be shot(拍摄)many times before it is made into what you see on the big screen. For example, the short film I was in was only five minutes long but I spent half a day in acting. This is because it has to be shot at different angles(角度)and light conditions. The acting is different too. I’ve never actually seen how I look on the camera before. So I was quite surprised when I saw how strange my face was. You’ll find the same skills that work for acting on the stage(舞台)are not so useful in that of the film.
I never thought I would be able to work with a film team. So, the experience was meaningful. However, I’ve decided I would probably do better on a stage than talking to a camera.
1 What experience did the writer have before he played a role in the film
A. Directing films. B. Taking photos. C. Talking to cameras. D. Acting in theaters.
2. Why is less attention paid to actors than the writer thinks
A. Because the director asks others to do so. B. Because the film will be shot very fast.
C. Because there are so many actors in a film. D. Because people are busy setting up cameras.
3. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3
A. The jobs different people do in making a film.
B. The long hours actors have to spend in film shooting.
C. The differences between acting in a theatre and in a film.
D. The methods directors usually use to make good films.

A. Directing films. B. Taking photos. C. Talking to cameras. D. Acting in theaters.
2. Why is less attention paid to actors than the writer thinks

C. Because there are so many actors in a film. D. Because people are busy setting up cameras.

A. The jobs different people do in making a film.
B. The long hours actors have to spend in film shooting.
C. The differences between acting in a theatre and in a film.
D. The methods directors usually use to make good films.
4. What will the writer do in the future
A. Learn to set up a camera. B. Make a new film project.
C. Work hard as a theatre actor. D. Take film-acting lessons.
