Indonesia's traffic jam has been known to send commuters(上班族) into a bad situation, but Jujun Junaedi has decided to break away from it by building his very own helicopter. He spends his free time in a backyard dealing with his project by watching instructional(教学的) videos, as he dreams of flying above the roads of his home town Sukabumi.
“It's so terrible. You run out of petrol and it's a waste of time,” Junaedi says of the traffic jam in the city, about 110 kilometres south of the capital Jakarta. He bought parts and used scrap(废料) from his car repair shop. Junaedi says he has spent about 30 million rupiah(卢比) on his creation since he started building it 18 months ago.
Junaedi's young son and neighbour have both worked together to help build the eight-metre long helicopter, which has yet to take its first flight. “As long as my helicopter takes off, I'll be satisfied,” he said. Whether Junaedi's project gets off the ground is still a question.
