Would you like to adopt(收养) an animal Although this sounds very unusual, some children have done just this. The Natural Zoo has given people the chance to adopt animals by paying for all of its food for one year. One of the animals that needed parents was a young tiger named Brocky. The people at the zoo said that it would cost about $900 a year for the food for Brocky.
Not many boys and girls have $900 to spend. That is why several hundred children and grown-ups(成年人) each have sent a little money to the zoo to help pay for Brocky’s food. Some children sent in only a quarter because that was all the money they had. Other children sent in more money than that.
Since so many people sent money to the zoo to help pay for Brocky’s food, he now will be able to eat as much as he wants. Brocky surely must be a happy tiger to know that he has so many adopted parents. Many children must also be happy to know that they have helped to feed him. It really will be thrilling(令人兴奋的) for those children to go to the Natural Zoo to visit their adopted tiger Brocky.

①RVs(旅行房车) are a great way to tour the country and see the sights, but thanks to one father-daughter team, they’ve helped people who’ve lost their homes in California’s latest wildfires.
②The idea of Woody Faircloth, EmergencyRV Organziation connects people who are willing to donate their RVs to those in need. So far, Faircloth with his daughter Luna along for the ride—has sent 95 RVs to California area wildfire victims (受害者). Otherwise they might wait months for emergency housing(应急居所).
③Faircloth first got the idea for the organization in 2018. Like many that year, the father was touched by the news of California’s deadly Camp Fire that burnt hundreds of homes during Thanksgiving week. The story of a man who lost almost everything but managed to survive the fire in his mobile home impressed Faircloth. Then he asked Luna what she thought about finding an RV and sending it to a family, so they could have a place to call home for Christmas, and she was 100% on board.
④Faircloth started a GoFundMe activity to provide money for the first RV that he and Luna sent to California. As the news of their journey spread, people started reaching out to him, offering to donate their RVs —and from there, EmergencyRV Organization soon formed. All the people think what Faircloth did will make a difference to those in need. It’s hoped that these donations can help more people.
⑤Many of those who receive mobile homes are firefighters. Their tireless work in fighting the fire did not prevent their own homes from burning. One such man is George Wolley, who lost his own home in the Dixie Fire on August 4th. He said, “Before I got that RV, I felt like I was a burden (负担) on everybody that helped me ... I slept a lot in tents and in my car. It gave me a place to go.”
⑥Faircloth’s organization continues to grow. He’s thankful for the many things he has and happy to be in a position to help others.
61. EmergencyRV Organization was started to ________.
A. teach people ways to prevent fires B. raise money to buy emergency cars
C. provide housing for wildfire victims D. collect and sell second-hand cars
62 What gave Faircloth the idea to set up the organization
A. His interview with a man surviving a fire. B. The news about a terrible fire.
C. His own experience of a wildfire D. Donations from people to victims.
63. How did people feel about Faircloth’s behaviour
A. Angry. B. Excited. C. Worried D. Hopeful.
64. Why was Wolley mentioned(提及) in the text
A. To explain the danger of wildfires. B. To introduce the work of firefighters.
C. To show the burden on car owners. D. To give an example of RVs’ receiver.

听第二篇短文,回答第16-20小题。
Almost all the students have to finish much homework on Saturdays and Sundays. But it seems that doing the weekend homework is a big problem for the students now. Many students think teachers shouldn’t give them much weekend homework to do. It’s enough for them to study at school five days a week. They want to do many other meaningful activities. But with homework to do at weekends, how can they find time to help their parents, go and see a football game or a good film, or just have a rest at home The homework can’t be finished until Sunday night. They usually finish their homework quickly, so there are usually many mistakes. Of course, on Monday the teachers are unhappy. Since the weekend homework does little help to the students, why don’t teachers stop it If there were no weekend homework, the students would be happy and have more energy to go to school on Monday after a good rest.
